Alabama airport aerial photographs, 1936-1969.

This collection of aerial photographs was made for the Alabama State Aviation Commission, later called the Department of Aeronautics. There are 288 aerial photographs of different sizes taken between 1936 and 1969. Most of these were taken of Alabama airports from an altitude of between 6,000 and 10,000 feet. This collection includes a photograph of almost every airport in the state of Alabama.

The Alabama State Aviation Commission was established in 1931 to encourage aviation and to regulate the aviation industries within the state.
